Shelly 5×5, the sturdy, neat cardboard shelf

A shelf made from paper? Yes, indeed – Shelly is made entirely of paper. Is that even sturdy? Quite so in our case. The shelf is made from a particularly robust paper that distinguishes itself due to the honeycomb structure on the inside. On the outside, our cardboard shelf looks like any other piece of furniture, but below the surface lies the sturdy heart of the construction.

Paper as a material for furniture solves several problems at once: due to its unique makeup, the cardboard shelf is extremely lightweight – it only weighs around 25% of a common wooden shelf, making it quite handy for big moves. Not only is it easy to transport, it is also easy to assemble: Shelly is a stacking shelf so you do not need any tools or screws. Just plug the pieces of the cardboard shelf together.

Only 5 minutes to get it into the apartment, another 3 to unpack, and just 5 more minutes later and you have a fully functional shelf on your wall.

That is tough competition for Kallax: 4 packages, dozens of minutes for unloading, unpacking, and preparation and then you will sit there another hour just for assembly. This is a strain on yourself and the environment alike.

Made from renewable resources

Shelly is a good solution, also from an ecological point of view. Just like all pieces of Papercomb furniture, our cardbaord shelf is made from 100% renewable resources. It is sourced and made in Germany from 90% recycled and 10% FSC-cerfified paper fibre as well as some organic glue. If you ever lose the need for the shelf, it can be seemlessly added to the circular economy via recycling and be re-used for other purposes.

Why is the shelf not made from 100% recycled materials, you ask? Due to the construction process, it is simply impossible at the moment, and we did not want to compromise on quality and durability. If you want to know more, have a look at our FAQ.

A cardboard shelf is efficient and distinct

Our shelves can be used in all sorts of situations, be it in your own private home or in professional work environments. It is a particularly good fit for trade fairs, where time, weight, and efficiency are of utmost importance. Papercomb furniture is easy to carry and assemble, saving you time and needless effort for transport. This is good news, especially for exhibitors who are looking for light furniture: the shelf weighs around 19kg. It offers more space while weighing less than half of your typical Billy shelf.

Thanks to the honeycomb technology on the inside, Shelly shelf is sturdy and durable. It is up to you, whether you replace our stacking shelves with newer models, recycle them, or use and re-use them for years on end. You can even assemble and re-assemble Shelly in various ways every time you use it. Switch up the setup for every new event and – if you feel like it – you can even further individualize it with common dispersion or finger paint.

Various colors and sizes

Papercomb stacking shelves come in different sizes, offering you between 3×3, 3×5, or 5×5 square compartments for storage. Additionaly, you can combine the boards in creative ways into individual forms, e.g. triangular modifications, allowing you to always make the most of your available space, even roof slopes. All of our pieces of furniture come in dull white or classic cardboard brown and of course you can combine both colors within the same shelf. Furthermore, the paper surface is easy to creatively personalize with colors or decals, giving you infinite freedom to make each shelf your very own design.
